Olivier Lasson
After fifteen years as a professional drummer, sound artist Olivier Lasson turned to beat making in 2009 (including collaborations with Pascal Danae or Rodolphe Burger). He created a piece for theatre in 2013 (Rituel pour une Métamorphose at the Comédie Française in collaboration with Yasmine Hamdan) which led him to field recording and musique concrète. As composer and sound artist his creations focus on the sounds of the soundscape and their live manipulations. Working in a variety of artistic fields, he creates electroacoustic compositions, site-specific installations and performances. Working from the sounds of natural and architectural environments, Olivier has developed an instrumentarium made up of a number of machines that enable sound to be spatialised, while at the same time creating a genuine musical gesture made possible by their modified functions. Fantastic crackles, unrecognisable quotations, hypnotic reverberations, magnetic flights, volatile collages and acousmatic lyricism. Somewhere between dream and augmented reality, the spectator is plunged into a unique concrete fanfare made in the moment: a cinema for dreamy ears. He perceives every days sounds as infinite instrumental possibilities that he captures and transforms. He collaborates on exhibitions with artists’ collectives (Mu, NNIPA) and fashion houses (Hermès). He produces live electroacoustic and improvised solo and duo performances (with Reeve Schumacher, Amandine Casadamont, Julie Rousse, Duncan Pinhhas), and has collaborated with Sport National collective. He works for dance (Le Chant du Styrène by the Tétrapode company), for the films LEWIS by Julien Mignot & Tanguy Bizien, ECCE and Green Dawn by choreographer Fu Le, Déjà Vu by Arnaud Bigeard & more.
